Why an Ethical charter?
As an animal behaviourist, we are led to work with living things, and impact real lifes either the animal's or the client's. Consequences are ofter even greater for cats in stress for whom we sometimes are the only chance of life improving since our guidance directly affect the reception of their communication and their life-condition.
Ethics and respect are therefore primary criteria, in order to ensure that we offer the most beneficial service possible for animals and their owners.
A significant part of the work consists of changing mentalities and providing information through popular science. We therefore have a duty of transmission which requires integrity and scientific rigor.

Cat Welfare
Animal welfare is at the heart of my job and my concerns. The solutions I propose are thought out to prioritize the physical and psychological well-being of your animal(s) within the framework of what is possible to put in place by his/her humans.
Here are the 11 ethical pillars that support my practice:

I strive to have an open and caring attitude, so that the client feels comfortable communicating honestly and comprehensively at all times without ever feeling judged. I am attentive to questions and constructive feedback.
Attitude and care
There is no recognised training for animal behaviorists in France, therefore anyone (with the ACACED, 3 days training course) can self-proclaim an animal behaviorist. I believe in the need for serious training to avoid the stigmatization of the practice by non-competent professionnals, so I commit to communicate the trainings I followed so you can check their legitimacy.

Trainings
Since what we know about feline behavior continues to deepen and evolve, I am committed to monitor new scientific advances to the best of my abilities and my practice.
Knowledge update
In order to give you the possibility to check the information I share in my articles and in a concern of rigor, I share my sources at my best.
sources
I present my commercial offer with loyalty and transparency, whatever the medium (website, telephone call, mailing, etc.) so that the customer has an honest prior vision of the costs involved, without misleading him about the guarantee of the results.
offer
Any information shared as part of a consultation or making contact is considered confidential. They will therefore never be disclosed without being encrypted to make the source anonymous and unrecognizable (except with prior written and signed consent).
confidentiality
A supporter of the systemic approach, I believe that any situation is a multiple factors complex system. My intervention and advice are tailored to the client's situation. They take into account the needs of the species, but also the physical and psychological individuality of the cat, his/her environment, the human-animal relationship, the limitations of what can be offered by humans, etc.
personnalisation
Seeking to raise awareness as effectively as possible, I express myself using everyday language while trying to be as accessible as possible.
Popularisation
Stress, especially in cats, can have a medical origin. Before proceeding with a consultation, I ensure that medical causes have been ruled out and refer to a veterinarian if this is not the case. In general, I refrain from advising you out of my range of skills and refer you to a trained colleague if necessary.
Vets and other referals
However far our knowledge or experience may go, our understanding of another animal species' mind is nonetheless limited, as humans, to our own perceptions and ways of understanding the world.
The study of animal behavior is not and will never be an exact science; it is subject to inevitable interpretation biases. I refrain from claiming or ensuring the contrary.
